When I called one of the aftermarket companies saying they have a replacement for this, I asked if they do the sub-micron testing to confirm that they can filter bacteria. They told me no, they do not test them. How can they claim they can filter bacteria if they don’t know if they work?
I know the General Ecology filters work; I used one with bacteria laden water for two weeks and never got sick. Then day 15, I forgot and got a drink with ice cubes that I didn’t filter the water. Not a fun couple of days after that.
Why take a chance to save a few bucks and buy a “filter that fits” and have no clue if it really works?
